This independence can slowly be eroding away in the form of lost mobility after years of inactivity and poor diet. Maybe even decades of inactivity if you happen to be a baby boomer (born between 1946 and 1964) like me.
MOBILITY = INdependence and FREEDOM to MOVE about.
IMMOBILITY = dePENDENCE ON OTHERS and eventual LOSS OF FREEDOM to MOVE about.
Once you begin to lose the ability to get down to the ground to do your business and get back up again; it could be a very short road to dependent care or even a nursing home.

If you are going to exist on this Earth anyway, why not feel your best, because if you FEEL YOU’RE BEST, you will invariably LOOK YOUR BEST!

I know you don't want to read about your problems - you are all too familiar with them! What you want are solutions to those problems. You want uncomplicated, straight-forward methods to increase your mobility in order to keep your independence.

And the craziest part is - most of what I am asking you to do - you must do any way regardless of whether you try my methods or not. What exactly do I mean when I state you “must” do these things anyway?
We all need to breathe (if we want to continue living). We all need to get down to the ground and get back up again (if we want to keep our independence). Please click on the “breathe” link in the previous sentence and read the article. How you breathe affects how you live. You can start to become aware of your breathing pattern RIGHT NOW!
I am also talking about daily life activities that must also be done; such as lying down to sleep, getting up from sleeping, sitting down and rising again, bending over, climbing stairs, lifting kids, and carrying your groceries etc...
All I am asking you to do initially is to pay attention to what you already have to do. Develop an awareness of “you” moving through the world around you. Concentrate, refine and practice what you have to do anyway. Work on improving basic movements; using your body the way nature intended – as an entire unit. I am not talking about exercise initially – simply working on necessary things that get you from point A to point B, like walking and squatting down. Awareness is the first step to implementing change.
Why even bother to drive to the gym when the most taxing part of your workout could be getting out of your car? Simply because you have not kept up with the inborn, innate ability to squat down and rise up again.
Start as if you were a toddler again – at square one!
Relearn to rise up from the ground and get back down again. Unfortunately, for many of us this is very difficult and for some a seemingly impossible task.
There are many reasons for losing your ability to squat. For some it is through no fault of their own; although for most it is simply years of neglect to blame. We as a society seem to be overfed and underutilizing our most basic bodily functionality through perpetual inactivity.
Perhaps our late, great, thirty-third president of the United States John F. Kennedy said it best as he pointed out many decades ago in a Sports Illustrated interview and his address in New York City at the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame Banquet on December 5, 1961 (excerpts below) the need to stop the “softness” and “spectation” the American people.
Obviously, JFK’s scenario presented below has since escalated out of control. It has not only become true it has become common place. Why not let the change begin with you?

“But the harsh fact of the matter is that there is also an increasingly large number of young Americans who are neglecting their bodies—whose physical fitness is not what it should be—who are getting soft. And such softness on the part of individual citizens can help to strip and destroy the vitality of a nation.”
“For the physical vigor of our citizens is one of America’s most precious resources. If we waste and neglect this resource, if we allow it to dwindle and grow soft then we will destroy much of our ability to meet the great and vital challenges which confront our people. We will be unable to realize our full potential as a nation.”
“Thus, in a very real and immediate sense, our growing softness, our increasing lack of physical fitness, is a menace to our security.”
“All of us must consider our own responsibilities for the physical vigor of our children and of the young men and women of our community. We do not want our children to become a generation of spectators. Rather, we want each of them to be a participant in the vigorous life.”

“The result of this shift from participation to, if I may use the word "spectation," is all too visible in the physical condition of our population.”
“I find this situation disturbing. We are under-exercised as a nation. We look, instead of play. We ride, instead of walk. Our existence deprives us of the minimum of physical activity essential for healthy living. And the remedy, in my judgment, lies in one direction; that is, in developing programs for broad participation in exercise by all of our young men and women - all of our boys and girls.”
If you look around these statements ring even truer today. JFK was certainly a visionary in many respects. In regard to the state of his fellow American’s physical condition he voiced concern almost fifty years ago.
Fast forward to today and the fit are actually a minority of our population and the obesity epidemic has unfortunately infiltrated to the youngest members of our population. IF for no other reason as JFK mentioned above you need to set a good example for the young by pursuing a vigorous lifestyle yourself.
The “menace” he mentioned above has now spiraled to become a nationwide pandemic; threatening ourselves, our loved ones and the health care infrastructure.
We seem to be well versed at adding to our quantity (length) of life while ignoring our everyday quality of life (through good health). We are becoming experts at allowing pharmaceuticals to enable us to continue eating the typical American diet (highly processed food) and as little physical activity as possible while giving the appearance of good health through normal range vital signs (cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure).
THE TIME IS NOW HERE TO TAKE SOME ACTION TODAY and ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE in your life IF you FEEL, ACT and LOOK much older than your years suggest and your weight and/or poor physical condition is keeping you on the sidelines of your own life!
TAKE SOME SELF-RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. OF COURSE YOU WILL ALSO NEED THREE ADDTIONAL THINGS (ALL FREE AS WELL!) - TIME TO BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF, AWARENESS TO BE OBSERVANT OF YOUR BEING, AND THE DETERMINATION TO PERSEVRE.
